Non-parochial, foreign and maritime Births, Marriages and Deaths digitisation project Under the Licensed Internet Associateship scheme

Last year, the National Archives in London signed a license with Genealogy Supplies Limited to scan the existing microform and place online the following series records:

  • RG 4 General Register Office: Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths surrendered to the Non-parochial Registers Commissions of 1837 and 1857

  • RG 5 General Register Office: Birth Certificates from the Presbyterian, Independent and Baptist Registry and from the Wesleyan Methodist Metropolitan Registry

  • RG 6 General Register Office: Society of Friends' Registers, Notes and Certificates of Births, Marriages and Burials

  • RG 7 General Register Office: Registers of Clandestine Marriages and of Baptisms in the Fleet Prison, King's Bench Prison, the Mint and the May Fair Chapel

  • RG 8 General Register Office: Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths surrendered to the Non Parochial Registers Commission of 1857, and other registers and church records

  • RG 32 General Register Office: Miscellaneous Foreign Returns

  • RG 33 General Register Office: Foreign Registers and Returns

  • RG 34 General Register Office: Miscellaneous Foreign Marriage Returns

  • RG 35 General Register Office: Miscellaneous Foreign Death Returns

  • RG 36 General Register Office: Registers and Returns of Births, Marriages and Deaths in the Protectorates etc of Africa and Asia

  • BT 158 Board of Trade: Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen and predecessor: Registers of Births, Deaths and Marriages of Passengers at Sea

  • BT 159 Board of Trade: Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen: Registers of Deaths at Sea of British Nationals

  • BT 160 Board of Trade: Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen: Registers of Births at Sea of British Nationals

For the first time this fascinating series will be fully searchable by name, further opening up what is already a well used resource at The National Archives, and giving easy access to a digital copy of the records.
