Google books: an untapped resource for genealogy

Have you tried searching google books for family history?
Google books is aiming to digitize as many out of print books as possible and make them available freely online. It has scanned many old books already and a lot of these are freely available to download as pdf files. The site allows books that have been digitized to be searched - which is a great tool for family historians.

Kathryn put in a search term for Huntingdon, Hereford, the surname Strangward and came up with some useful hits of books that we could download. One was the Camden Visitation of Huntingdonshire, others were books published in America by Strangwards who had emigrated there from Huntingdonshire.
