Searches in local archives

Specialist research in local archives

Archive offices have many different records apart from census returns and parish registers and, if you are stuck, finding information from these records can be a great help. Examples include local wills, property documents, poor law documents, parish records other than registers, tithe records and maps and many more.

We provide document searching primarily in the following archives and libraries in Yorkshire:

  • Doncaster Archives
  • Doncaster Local Studies Library
  • Wakefield Archives
  • East Yorkshire Archives
  • Goole Local Studies Library
  • West Riding Registry of Deeds
  • Pontefract Local Studies Library
  • Pontefract Museum
  • The Borthwick Institute (York University)
  • Lincolnshire Archives at Lincoln

Other archives by personal arrangement (for example, those in Leeds and Hull) are also possible.
