The Federation of Family History Societies in the UK

The FFHS was founded in 1974 and is a very useful site if you are considering becoming a member of a Family History Society either local to you or another county, national and even one overseas. It offers you a very comprehensive search option to find a link to any of the societies you may be interested in.  

GENUKI

The aim of GENUKI is to serve as a "virtual reference library" of genealogical information that is of particular relevance to the UK & Ireland. It is a non commercial service, provided by an ever-growing group of volunteers in cooperation with the Federation of Family History Societies and a number of its member societies. In the main, the information that is provided in GENUKI relates to primary historical material, rather than material resulting from genealogists' ongoing research, such as GEDCOM files.

BBC History Trials Starting your Family Tree

A great online introduction to start your family tree. Nick Barratt of "Who Do You Think You Are" fame presents an in depth, step-by-step online guide to beginning to research your UK ancestry. This BBC History Trials site is excellent and is packed with useful information and links if you are new to genealogy research.
